Treatment guide

Minimally invasive decompression

Selected approaches address specific anatomic contributors to lumbar spinal stenosis.

What the treatment does

Decompression addresses specific structures that narrow the space around spinal nerves. The appropriate approach depends on the location and cause of narrowing.

Who may be considered

Some patients with lumbar stenosis and an appropriate anatomic contributor may qualify for a minimally invasive option. Other patterns require surgical assessment.

Expectations and risks

Review the expected effect on walking, alternatives, and the possibility of incomplete relief. Bleeding, infection, nerve injury, and need for additional treatment are possible.

Questions to ask at your visit

  • Which pain source is this treatment intended to address?
  • What are the alternatives in my case?
  • What improvement should we measure, and when?
  • What restrictions and follow-up will I need?
This guide is general education. Eligibility, technique, and recovery depend on your individual circumstances.
